Rosenborg Castle, Denmark

In Copenhagen, Denmark, there is a Renaissance castle called Rosenborg Castle. The castle, one of Christian IV's many architectural endeavors, was first constructed in 1606 as a country summerhouse. It was constructed in the Dutch Renaissance style, which was common for Danish structures at the time, and underwent multiple expansions before reaching its current state in 1624. The castle's structural design is credited to architects Hans van Steenwinckel the Younger and Bertel Lange.

The Long Hall, which occupies the third story, was finished in 1624. Originally, it was supposed to be a ballroom. It was utilized for feasts and as a Royal Reception Room circa 1700. The "Knight's Hall" moniker did not emerge until the latter part of the 1800s.The Royal Collections, which include relics from the late 16th century of Christian IV to the 19th century, are on display in the museum of the castle, which is accessible to the general public for tours. The aristocracy and nobility used to own some of these items. In 1838, the castle—now state property—opened to the public. The castle is located in what is known as "Rosenborg Castle Garden" in Kongens Have. Christian IV adorned the Rosenborg Castle Garden, the nation's oldest royal garden, in the Renaissance style just prior to the main castle's construction. The gardens are now a well-liked haven for Copenhagen residents, drawing an estimated 2.5 million tourists annually. The Royal Life Guards are stationed at the barracks next to the castle. The castle is guarded by the Life Guard.
