The biome known as taiga, or tayga, is typified by coniferous forests that are mostly composed of pines, spruces, and larches. It is sometimes referred to as boreal forest or snow forest. The biggest land biome on Earth is the taiga, sometimes known as the boreal forest. It encompasses the majority of inland Canada, Alaska, and portions of the northern contiguous United States in North America. Most of Sweden, Finland, a large portion of Russia from Karelia in the west to the Pacific Ocean (including much of Siberia), a large portion of Norway and Estonia, a portion of the Scottish Highlands, some lowland/coastal areas of Iceland, and parts of northern Kazakhstan, northern Mongolia, and northern Japan (on the island of Hokkaido) are all included in Eurasia. The main tree species differ globally based on summer temperatures and the duration of the growing season. Eastern Siberian taiga is a huge larch forest; Russian taiga has spruce, pines, and larches depending on the region; Scandinavian and Finnish taiga is a mixture of spruce, pines, and birch; and North American taiga is primarily spruce.With its current taiga covering land that was either mammoth steppe or under the Scandinavian Ice Sheet in Eurasia or under the Laurentide Ice Sheet in North America during the Late Pleistocene, it is a relatively recent phenomenon, having only existed for the last 12,000 years since the start of the Holocene epoch. Taiga is not solely an alpine habitat; unlike subalpine forest, a large portion of taiga is lowland, even though it grades into alpine tundra at high elevations through Krummholz. Not every culture uses the word "taiga" in the same way. In the English language, "taiga" refers to the more northern, arid regions that approach the tree line and the tundra, whereas "boreal forest" refers to more southern locations in the United States and Canada. The history of this differential use in North America and how it warps traditional Russian usage are covered by Hoffman (1958).Taiga are at risk from climate change, and there is debate about how carbon accounting should handle carbon dioxide emissions or absorption.Taiga makes up 11.5 percent of the Earth's surface area, roughly 17 million square kilometers (6.6 million square miles), which is second only to deserts and xeric shrublands.Canada and Russia have the greatest areas. The Norrland landscape is linked to Sweden's taiga.  

The town of Anapa is situated in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, close to the Sea of Azov on the Black Sea's northern coast. Its population, according to the Russian census of 2021, was 81,863.It is among Russia's biggest resorts for kids. Anapa served as the Sindi people's capital and a significant seaport in antiquity. Greeks called it Gorgippia when they came there in the sixth century BCE. Later centuries saw Genoa and the Ottoman Empire take control of the settlement. It was the location of several sieges during the Russo-Turkish wars after a fortification was built there in 1781. After multiple occupations, the Russian Empire eventually seized it in 1829.Krymskaya Street is the address of Anapa's Town Theater. Following the Town Cultural Center's restoration, it opened.There are twenty-nine public libraries, four of which are kid-friendly. More than 8,000 books were sent to Anapa's libraries in 2010, and more than a million rubles worth of publications and newspapers were ordered. Additionally, nine hundred CDs were bought.

The capital of Russia's Far Eastern Federal District, Vladivostok, is the biggest city and the administrative hub of Primorsky Krai. With a population of 603,519 as of 2021, it has an area of 331.16 square kilometers (127.86 square miles) and is situated around the Golden Horn Bay on the Sea of Japan. After Khabarovsk, Vladivostok is the second-biggest city in the Far Eastern Federal District in the Russian Far East. It is roughly 134 kilometers (83 miles) from the border between North Korea and Russia and 45 kilometers (28 miles) from the border between China and Russia.The City Council is at the pinnacle of the city administration hierarchy.   The following are the duties of the Vladivostok government: exercising the authority to deal with local Vladivostok issues in conformity with federal laws, the Duma of Vladivostok's normative legislative actions, and the directives and directions of the city's chief; the creation and arrangement of the ideas, plans, and initiatives for the city's growth that have been authorized by the Vladivostok Duma; creation of the city's draft budget; making sure the budget is implemented; the utilization of the city's infrastructure and land; possession, use, and disposal of municipal property in accordance with the guidelines established by the Vladivostok Duma

The third-largest lake island in the world is Olkhon. With an area of 730 km2 (280 sq mi), it is by far the largest island in eastern Siberia's Lake Baikal. In terms of structure, it makes up the Academician Ridge's southwest edge. The island's dimensions are 20.8 km in breadth and 71.5 km in length. The language of the Buryats, the native inhabitants of Olkhon, is the source of both of the two theories about the island's name. The island's name is derived from two words: oyhon, which means "woody," and olhan, which means "dry." Since both terms accurately characterize the island, it is still up for question which is the true origin of the name Olkhon. A large portion of the island is still forested, and there is very little precipitation—roughly 240 mm (9.4 in) year. The majority of the population works as a farmer, fisherman, or cattle rancher. Many locals also work in this industry as a result of the growing number of visitors from around the globe, and tourism has grown to be a significant contributor to Olkhon's economy. The Buryats, the island's indigenous people, make up the majority of the 1,744-person population. On Olkhon Island, a Buryat shaman Yalga, Malomorets, Khuzhir, Kharantsy, and Ulan-Khushin are among the island's five villages and several communities. When the Soviet authorities issued a comprehensive decree preserving Lake Baikal in April 1987, the settlement of Khuzhir was designated as the administrative capital of Olkhon. About 1,200 people call Khuzhir home, and it has a museum dedicated to the local history and environment.
