Seville Cathedral, Spain

Located in Seville, Andalusia, Spain, the church of Saint Mary of the See (Spanish: Catedral de Santa María de la Sede), also called Seville Cathedral (Catedral de Sevilla), is a Catholic church and former mosque. Together with the General Archive of the Indies and the nearby Alcázar palace complex, it was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. It is the biggest Gothic cathedral and one of the biggest churches in the world.When Seville Cathedral was finished in the early 16th century, it overtook Hagia Sophia, which had been the world's largest cathedral for a millennium.[Its dimensions are 126 m (413 ft) in length, 76 m (249 ft) in width, and 36 m (118 ft) in central nave height (40 m (130 ft) at the crossing) for the Gothic part alone. The Giralda tower is 104.5 meters (342 feet 10 inches) high from the ground to the weather vane. On the northeastern flank of the cathedral stands the Archbishop's Palace.In 1478, Infante Juan of Aragon, the only child of Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile, was baptized at Seville Cathedral. The remains of Ferdinand III of Castile, the city's conqueror, his son and heir Alfonso the Wise, and their descendant King Peter the Cruel are housed in its royal church. Among its chapels are the grave monuments for cardinals Pedro González de Mendoza and Juan de Cervantes. The cathedral also houses the tombs of Christopher Columbus and his son Diego.
