Drottningholm Palace Lovö, Sweden

A fairy tale A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Drottningholm Palace (Drottningholms slott) is located on the island of Lovö. This is a great day excursion from Stockholm, located approximately 11 kilometers west of the city center (45 minutes by ferry). The palace, which dates back to the 17th century, serves as the Swedish Royal Family's official residence.

Bronze sculptures from Denmark and Bohemia that were returned as war booty are displayed in the charming terraced park. The Chinese Pavilion, built in the late 1700s, is a must-see. During the summer, shows are still held at the Palace Theatre (Drottningholms Slottsteater), which dates back to the 18th century. Stage scenery and costumes from the era are on display at the Theatre Museum.
