In Tromsø, Norway, there is a university museum called Tromsø University Museum. One of Northern Norway's oldest scientific establishments, it was founded in 1872 and has been a component of the University of Tromsø since 1977. Since its founding in 1870 in response to a regional exhibition, the museum has expanded from a modest establishment with few professional employees to a cultural and academic hub with a collection of around two million artifacts. The main Tromsø Museum building, the Polar Museum in the city center, the seal-hunting ship M/S Polstjerna, and the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden in Breivika are the four public departments that make up the museum.The museum has focused on Sami culture, archaeology, natural sciences, and Arctic research throughout its existence. Since 1973, one of its most important and enduring permanent displays has been the "Samekulturen" exhibition on Sami culture. The museum continues to be a significant institution for public education and research, drawing over 80,000 visitors a year.P. Schmidt, a schoolteacher, initially suggested the idea of a museum in Tromsø in 1846 when he wrote an article supporting a natural history museum in the local newspaper. This project was sparked by Schmidt's cooperation with marine biologist Michael Sars, who asked him to help gather specimens from northern maritime fauna for the "Fauna littoralis Norwegiae" project.

Jotunheimen is a hilly region in southern Norway that is around 3,500 square kilometers (1,400 square miles) in size. It is a component of the Scandinavian Mountains, a lengthy range. The leather shoe is the earliest piece of clothing found in Scandinavia, with archaeologists estimating that it was manufactured between 1800 and 1100 BC. It was found with a wooden spade and several arrows, which led archaeologists to believe they had uncovered a significant hunting area.

In order to defend and serve as a royal palace for the city, the medieval castle known as Akershus Fortress or Akershus Castle was constructed in Oslo, Norway. The main fief and subsequently main county of Akershus, which was once one of Norway's four main districts and comprised the majority of Eastern Norway, has been named after the citadel since the Middle Ages. Up to 1919, the stronghold was part of the larger Akershus county; before 1842, it was also a part of the smaller Akershus sub-county. In addition, the castle has served as a jail, a military installation, and the temporary residence of Norway's prime minister.The Akershus Fortress is accessible to the public daily from 6:00 to 21:00, despite being a military installation. The Norwegian Resistance Museum and the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum are open for visits in addition to the castle. The eastern portion of the fortification houses the joint modern headquarters of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense and the nation's Defense Staff Norway. The stronghold is protected by His Majesty the King's Guard, which has mobile patrols at night and stationary guard positions during the day. By the 19th century, Bygdøy had become a favorite among the capital's wealthy and was inhabited only by the wealthy and their servants.Bygdøy boasts parks, woodlands, and beaches, including both nudist and conventional Huk beaches. Only 111 homes were located in Bygdøy in 1885; currently, the majority of the expansive gardens are divided into smaller land areas, making Bygdøy primarily a residential area while maintaining an upmarket demographic profile. This is also the location of Oscarshall, home of the Queen Joséphine Gallery, and Bygdøy Royal Estate (Bygdøy kongsgård), the King of Norway's official summer house. A significant portion of the region, including the Bygdøy Royal Estate, is shielded from development.Following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the Norwegian government started a memorial for the disaster's victims. On October 19, 2007, HM King Harald V formally unveiled the memorial, which is situated on Bygdøy's western beach.
