Hochosterwitz Castle has a very long history. Because of this, you should give yourself at least one and a half hours to explore the castle. Please be aware that the castle gates close promptly. Up to one and a half hours before the finish, you can enter the castle. We hope your day at Hochosterwitz Castle is pleasant.
From April through November, as well as for a weekend in December with its Christmas market, the castle is open. You can independently visit some areas of the castle in addition to the museum. Knight festivals are among the many events that occur throughout the year.
Hochosterwitz is located approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) east of Sankt Veit, on the edge of the old Zollfeld plain north of Magdalensberg, at an elevation of 664 meters (2,178 feet) above sea level. On a clear day, it can be seen up to 30 kilometers (19 mi) away.
Experience luxury and adventure together as you travel some of Europe's most breathtaking rail routes, passing through well-known tourist spots and taking in stunning landscapes, tunnels, and mountains.
